Maharshi Kashyapa was an atomic scientist. He was called Kanāda [or eater-of –atoms]. He was also known as Ulūka. It is now known that he lived near Ujjayini in about 900 BCE -1000 BCE. In his Vaishesika Sutra, he classifies everything starting from matter, motion, sound, heat, light, etc.
In the fifth chapter he speaks of motion and gravity. Why do objects move? Why do they fall? What is inertia? What is impulse to motion? and so on.
I am placing three of his sutras before you. You shall revere this ancient sage, who lived on rice grains thrown away [because of extreme poverty], by knowing his great thoughts.
